The 17th annual South African Cheese Festival kicks off on April 27th until April 29th, 2018 at the Sandringham Farm in Stellenbosch. Marked as the most prominent outdoor culinary event. Founded in January 1997, the Cheetah Sanctuary based in Paardevlei, Somerset West has been promoting the survival of the free-ranging Southern African cheetah. They encourage this through environmental education and delivering conservation initiatives for the past 21 years. Cheetah Outreach is open 365 days a week from 09:30 to 17:00. The motto – ‘See it. Sense it. Save it.’ Speaks of passion for protecting this endangered species. By rescuing cubs from cheetah breeders in South Africa then hand-rearing them to live the life they were made to live. Daily close encounters are available with adult and cub cheetahs. Visitors are accompanied into the cheetah habitats by a highly trained facilitator, who will not only ensure human safety but the safety of the cheetah as well. It’s that time of the year again, Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival has become a popular annual event. This year the festivities will be returning on April 14th, 2018 to the Jan Marais Nature Reserve on the edge of Stellenbosch centre. A particular must-do event with up to 5 craft distilleries from Stellies and surrounds. Exceptional music and food trucks add to the day’s enjoyment and will make you leave your resolutions at the gate. Tickets are available online and at the entrance.
